San Pedro Grand Prix 2013

14-08-2013.- Everything is ready to start the San Pedro Grand Prix 2013 in San Pedro, Nuevo León, México, where Esteban was born. All racing fans will enjoy a memorable weekend on a street course that will challenge the driver’s skills.

Formula One driver Esteban Gutiérrez, who will be joined by his brother Andres on this important race that will take place on August 16-18th, spoke about the relevance of events like this.

“I will support this event in every way I can because it is a stepping stone to motorsports; it’s the place where I began and I was always grateful to the important people who supported it back then; that is why I think it is time for me to support as well.

“Regardless of it being a racing event or something oriented to motorsports, this is a social event that takes place in San Pedro and the main idea is that people who probably don’t follow the sport may come and see what a karting event is like and understand it as the first approach to auto racing”, said the Mexican.

Esteban recalls how he started in the sport and sent a message to drivers who, as he did some years ago, have the illusion and dream about reaching the top series in motorsports.

“It is one step at a time. Taking part of these events is a first step and you always have to reach for the top, but getting up everyday with the goal of doing your best at that moment and then, the sum of what you do everyday will lead you to achieve that goal”, he remarked.

On the other hand, Andrés Gutiérrez is ready to face the challenge and his wish is to win the Rotax Max Senior category this Sunday.

“We have the team, we have the car and the engine to win and we hope that will be the result.

“This event is a tradition of many years that had a long break of about 12 years but was resumed last year; it is a very interesting event because it takes place on a street course, which could be compared to Monaco if this was F1. This event will grow in time”, said the driver.

The San Pedro Grand Prix will start at 11.00 a.m. on Friday with practice one, while practice two is scheduled for 13:05 and practice three will take place at 14:50.

Qualifying will be held on Saturday at 10:15, with the pre-final taking place at 12:00 and the final race at 14:25.

Times for pre-final and final races are scheduled at 10:15 and 13:10, respectively. Access gate is in Auditorio San Pedro and admission is free.

There will be karts rental from 17:00 to 19:00 on Saturday, with a price of 100 pesos per five minutes session and the proceedings will be donated to ‘Un Solo San Pedro’.
