Esteban Gutierrez qualified 5th at Brands Hatch

September 4, 2009

Kent, England - Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez will start round 13 of the Formula 3 Euroseries from 5th on the grid, this Saturday at the British track of Brands Hatch.

Today’s qualifying session was different than the usual format, as the field was split in two groups to avoid difficult traffic conditions on the short 1.929 km track configuration.

Esteban qualified with Group A, in which two red flags prevented the drivers from setting good lap times, while Group B ran free of track incidents.

Mexican driver from ART Grand Prix was third in his group and sixth overall, but later was promoted to fifth after Sam Bird, who was third of Group B, was disqualified.

“We are very satisfied with our qualifying result. The truth is I need to be more confident on the first corner, a tricky one due to the different levels on the surface. What’s important is that our car is complete and ready for tomorrow’s race”, Esteban said.

“The best of all this is that we are consistently in the points paying positions and that will help us to move up in the championship. We are in very good shape for the race, although overtaking is really difficult on this track”.

“I thank the team because we have found great synergy and this has helped our consistency in every aspect. We have to work even harder to close the gap to the leaders and these results motivate us to keep working and with God’s help win a pole position”, he remarked.

Esteban thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, and Bell for supporting him on this stage of his career.
