Nürburg, Germany - The second part of the Formula 3 Euroseries 2009 season is about to begin at the circuit of Nürburgring where Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez and 25 other drivers are ready to start their engines again this weekend.
Esteban and his French team ART Grand Prix are already recognizing the German track of 3.629 kilometers, which was named the ´Green Hell´ by former Formula One driver Jackie Stewart, who recons the track as one of the most difficult and extenuating circuits in the world.
Gutierrez gets to rounds 11 and 12 of the calendar at the age of 18 years old and with six consecutive top ten results, which he achieved in a preparation weekend at Oschersleben, racing in the British Formula 3 International series, and previously in the race in Zandvoort.
Esteban is tenth in the championship with nine points, with upcoming double race weekends in England, Spain, France and Germany.
He is also set to participate in another British Formula 3 International event on September 11-13 in Portugal, as well as a possible participation in the Formula 3 Masters race which will take place on November 19-22 in Macau, China.
To be 100% dedicated to meet his professional activities, Esteban has decided to make a pause in his high school studies, as one of his main objectives is to be fit for testing the Formula One car in December 1-3 at the prestigious track of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
“I feel very satisfied with the first half of the season because I think that what we have experienced is going to be of great help in the long run. The truth is, since my first year in the Formula BMW USA, I never had to struggle so much to be in the top places. This year it’s been difficult to be competitive but I can say that living a different circumstance is going to give me a better perspective to be prepared and to be strong in any situation that I have to cope with,” said Esteban.
“Now that I have to continue with my preparation for the season and to concentrate for the F1 test with BMW Sauber, I have decided to take a break from my studies and focus 100% in the two tasks ahead. When new opportunities arise one has to sacrifice many things but sooner or later life brings an equal reward. This is what keeps me motivated,” he added.
“Nürburgring is a race track that I already know, even with the F3 car. I trained here last year and that will give us a competitive edge to focus more on the setup and less in getting to know the track. I had a very intense physical training in Italy last week, which I expect will give me more confidence on the car and will let me enjoy the driving. We have had top ten results in the last six races, which shows more consistency and indicates that we are moving in the right direction. I have faith in God and for that we expect to have everything aligned for a good weekend and to bring good news for our country and the Latin fans."
Esteban thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, and Bell for supporting him on this stage of his career.
