Sixth Top Ten in a Row for Esteban

August 2, 2009

Oschersleben, Germany - Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez added another top ten to his list, by finishing ninth in round 10 of the Formula 3 Euroseries, in the Motor Arena circuit of Oschersleben.

Esteban, driving for ART Grand Prix, started the race from ninth on the grid and kept that position throughout the race, showing how much he has progressed and learned with every event.

With the two top ten results he achieved this weekend at Oschersleben, he has now six in a row, a streak that began in Zandvoort and continued with two rounds of the British Formula 3 International, where he finished in the top ten as well.

The race was developed without major incidents, except for a few offs and a partial yellow flag that caused 21 drivers to be penalized for not reducing their speed and resulted in position changes at the end of the race. However, Esteban was not affected by this situation.

“I am very satisfied with the results of the weekend despite not having achieved our goal of earning some championship points. I finally managed to do a good start by changing my tires warming technique”, said Esteban.

“I really believe we had the speed for a better result but much was decided in qualifying because overtaking is very difficult on this track. We had the same speed as the quickest during the entire race, but I still need to push the car harder in qualifying", commented the driver.

“I think things will improve as we get more confident. I want to thank my sponsors, the fans, my family, my girlfriend, my friends and everybody who works with me for all the support they have given me regardless of the difficulties, because their support has helped me to continue being optimistic and stay motivated to continue fighting", said Gutierrez.

Rounds 11 and 12 of the season will take place on August 14-16 in the 3.629 km circuit of Nurburgring, in Nurburg, Germany.
