Esteban Made it in the Top Ten at Oschersleben

August 1, 2009

Oschersleben, Germany - Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez, together with other 24 drivers from many different countries, disputed and finished in the top ten in the ninth round of the Formula 3 Euroseries at the Motor Arena Oschersleben.

It was a sunny warm day with 32.7° C on the track, and there were no incidents during the race that forced the safety car out.

Esteban, representing French team ART Grand Prix, started from ninth place and 22 laps later he finished the race in the same position, with a time of 30:44.850.

Thanks to his consistency, Esteban is tenth in the championship standings with nine points.

Tomorrow, in the tenth round which is set to 30 laps or 40 minutes, Gutierrez will seek to place himself in the top six to add up even more points and to continue progressing as he has done race after race.

“Today’s race was very difficult because in this track we are using very high aerodynamic load as compared to most of the circuits we race in, and this causes grip loss which makes it very difficult to run too close to the car in front. I lost three places during the start of the race but later on the first lap I was able to gain them back, not without losing some time to the front runners. The good thing is that we have learned that I´m not getting the tires to temperature appropriately during the installation lap. This is affecting the traction during the start”, said the driver.

“We are working to improve these aspects that affect our performance, but it is good to have reached a conclusion. Getting back to the race, I spent all race behind Mika Maki, trying to put some pressure on him, but overtaking was very difficult".

“Thank God things turned out very well and I feel happy with ninth place, although our goal was to add up some points. I am happy with ninth because it is a top ten result. Tomorrow I will give my best trying to improve and to continue progressing has we have been doing lately", Esteban commented.

Esteban thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, and Bell for supporting him on this new challenge called Formula 3 Euroseries.
