Spa Francorchamps, Belgium - After starting last, Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez demostrated his talent at the wheel and closed his participation in the British Formula 3 International with a tenth place.
Using his characteristic skills under rain, Esteban managed to move up 14 places in a difficult race that he finished in the top ten.
Thanks to this result, the young driver of the French team ART Grand Prix, closed a positive weekend finishing sixth and tenth in this preparation event
There were three categories in the British Formula 3 this weekend, International, National, and for invitees, in which Esteban was awarded a trophy for being the best driver of the category.
“We are very happy with the result, considering the difficulties we faced all weekend. It was a difficult race because of the weather conditions. It started to rain heavily right before the start, but we decided to stay on dry tires", commented Esteban.
“At the beginning it was very difficult to control the car but I managed to gain many positions. After a few laps, when the track was dry, it started to rain again and we changed for ´wets´, while other drivers stayed on dry tires. It was a gamble but we really had nothing to lose".
“In the end it turned out great because, despite our time in the pits, we managed to move up the field. Thank God this was an event in which we learned many things and I want to continue moving in this direction to keep improving more and more every time", declared the driver.
