Esteban to compete in two British F3 International events

Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium – After his more consistent weekend in the F3 Euroseries last week, Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez will continue his intense preparation program by racing this weekend in the British F3 International series.

The challenging circuit of Spa-Francorchamps - which hosts the Formula One Grand Prix of Belgium – will be the venue of rounds 13 and 14 for this series, considered the second more important and competitive behind the F3 Euroseries.

Esteban and French team ART Grand Prix will take this event as a complement to their F3 Euroseries official program, seeking to get more experience and enhance their competitive level.

His parents, as well as his sister and his brother, will be this weekend in Europe with the young driver - who has showed significant progress in the series – and this will bring him added support to face the challenge.

“It’s going to be an interesting experience because this is a different series and it is always good to have different experiences which certainly help getting a better perspective of things. I feel very grateful for having this kind of opportunities from God, to represent my country, Mexico, in many places. I see as something very important to keep our motivation high, to bring good news that we can share with people. If God allows, things will turn out great and we will learn as much as possible from this experience”, commented Esteban Gutierrez.

This Belgian circuit, known for the unpredictable weather conditions, has lived through legendary battles, like the one between Mika Häkkinen and Michael Schumacher in 2000, when the Finn overtook the German on the Kemmel straight, passing Brazilian Ricardo Zonta on the same move. There have been many accidents too, such as the one occurred during the start of the Grand Prix of Belgium in 1998, when 13 drivers were involved in an massive accident, fortunately, without consequences.

This weekend’s event will consist of two practice sessions on Thursday morning and a qualifying session for race 1 in the afternoon. On Friday morning, there will be a qualifying session to determine the grid of race 2, with race 1 taking place in the afternoon. Finally, race 2 will be held on Saturday.

Both races have been set to 13 laps or 30 minutes, and the drivers will race with the same car they use in the F3 Euroseries, only with a few small adjustments to make them comply with the rules of the British series.
