Esteban Scored Championship Points with a Meritorious Fifth Place

July 18, 2009

andvoort, Netherlands - Experience from previous events combined with an intelligent race today allowed the Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez to be now eighth in the F3 Euroseries 2009 championship points table.

Right after the start of the race an incident involving four cars brought the safety car out, by that moment, Esteban was sixth after having started from the eighth slot on the grid.

Esteban, from the French team ART Grand Prix, crossed the finish line in an excellent fifth place. With this result he earned four more championship points for a total of nine, which put him sharing eighth place with two other drivers, Mika Maki (Signature) and Alexander Sims (Mucke Motorsport).

During the event, which was held on a dry track and with a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius, he showed he has matured as a driver, as well as physically and mentally.

Esteban will start tomorrow´s race, which is set to 26 laps or 40 minutes, from fourth on the grid, which represents a clear opportunity for him to reach his first podium of the 2009 season.

“Today’s race was a little complicated at the start and I lost a position because I started off from the dirty side of the track. Finally, in the first corner I regained my position and also overtook another car for sixth place”.

“After that first lap things were steady and we are very happy with the result because we had the pace of the leaders all through the race. Thanks to God we earned championship points and tomorrow we will start from a very good grid position with the possibility to add even more points for the season", commented Gutierrez.

Esteban thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, and Bell for supporting him on this new challenge called Formula 3 Euroseries.
