Esteban Gutiérrez Stands Out in Norisring, by Qualifying in the Top 5

June 26, 2009

Nuremberg, Germany – Hard work and acquired experience combined in a perfect way to let Mexico raise her voice within the Norisring Circuit in Germany, as the Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutiérrez Gutiérrez made huge improvements.

The driver of the French team ART Grand Prix, intelligently overcame a complicated qualifying session where there was a strong storm and managed to get himself into fourth place for the fifth round in the Formula 3 Euroseries 2009 calendar.

“Qualifying was a very complicated session because of the rainfall before starting. Afterwards, during qualifying it stopped raining and that makes the track become faster each lap. That’s why consistency was very important during the session; I had to make every lap count as if it was the last as there was a big possibility that the session could be interrupted by an accident”.

“I feel very happy because we were able to take a big step forward today. We have to stay focused on races on Saturday and Sunday and try to do an intelligent race to be able to achieve our first points. We had the speed to get into the first five places and finally things worked out. We have to take things step by step taking the best out of every situation that occurs”, expressed the young Mexican driver of only 17 years of age.

Esteban, who slowly but surely is gaining more confidence with the car had the pole position for a few seconds in the last lap registering a best time of 55.712 seconds. However, he will take things calmly this weekend, doing his best to raise up the name of Mexico.

The fast and legendary track at Norisring is a great motivation for Esteban especially because it was here where the motor racing icon of Mexico died; Pedro Rodríguez de La Vega, on July 11th, 1971. This Saturday Esteban and other 26 drivers from different parts of the world will carry out a race of 35 laps or 30 minutes. Sunday’s race, the sixth round of the season, will be a race of 48 laps or 40 minutes.

Esteban thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, & Bell for all their support given in this new challenge of Formula 3 Euroseries.
