Esteban and his Team Lotus GP completed their program for the first day at Barcelona

On the first day of Official GP2 Training in Barcelona, Spain, Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez was able to perform different tests to observe how the car reacts to those settings.
The circuit of Catalunya is the stage where the second Official Training of the GP2 Series is taking place. This is the last event of the Formula One feeder series prior to the beginning of the 2012 season on March 23rd, in Malaysia.

“We ran some tests that will help us reach several conclusions and to know how some innovative things but there is nothing specifically new, we just followed the programme that we have and I think it was a very productive day.
“We have been trying different things that we want to improve and to know whether they work or not and that is why we are here in Barcelona, because this is the last training and the racing comes next”, said the Mexican.
Gutierrez had to leave the practice momentarily as he was not feeling well, however it was nothing serious and, after an injected medication, he was back to testing with team Lotus GP.
“You build a plan after a long time away from the track, using data from last year, and many questions find answers and we get a better idea of how the car will react under different circumstances.
“We have a program with different suspension settings because this track is different from the one we were at last week. The fact that we are in a different circuit helps us see how the car reacts”, he added.
Esteban’s best lap was 1 minute 29.932 seconds.
