Esteban and his team achieve their goals satisfactorily at the end of the first 2012 GP2 Official Test

After three days of GP2 Official Testing at the circuit of Jerez de la Frontera in Spain, Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez is satisfied with the work achieved.

On the third day of testing, Gutierrez and French team Lotus ART continued to work with the different tire compounds during race and qualifying simulations.

“We did good because we were able to do something similar to what we did yesterday, changing things that helped us move forward and trying to fix a few little concerns based on what we learned yesterday.”

“We made a step forward because the balance of the car was positive in both situations, on race simulation and qualifying simulation, and we feel happy in general terms because we made the most out of the three days of training here”, said the driver.

Gutierrez has said that conclusions from the first Official Test – with which the Formula One feeder series begins this year’s activities – showed progress that will help them achieve the objectives they have set for the 2012 season.

“We go home satisfied. The team is very happy because we worked on a positive way and I think at the end of the day we are making progress little by little, creating our own atmosphere, which is positive to move forward”, he added.

Esteban was third fastest after making 81 laps around the track with a best lap time of 1:25.725. This result adds up to the two second places that he obtained on days one and two.

“It is a good start (to have these results). This is something that always motivates people in the team and shows us that we are moving in the right direction, even though we must not base everything on this result because what really matters is to continue working on our program and not just base everything on the results.

“I think we as a team are very much aware of what we can achieve, of our capabilities, and we just have to be very focused to not make any mistakes. We probably are not going to win every single race but it is important to be in the top positions to gain points”, he remarked.

The next meeting for Esteban Gutierrez will be next week with the Official GP2 Series Testing sessions at the circuit of Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, from March 6th-8th .
