Zandvoort, Holland – The Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutiérrez Gutiérrez will face a brand new challenge in his driving career this weekend, when he starts his engine at his first Masters of Formula 3.
The young driver who is only 17 years old will race on the Zaandvoort Circuit in Holland where a total of 43 drivers from all over the world will see action alongside the Mexican, who is currently racing for the French team ART Grand Prix, in the Formula 3 Euroseries 2009.
The importance of this event is such that dozens of young drivers from all over the world come together with the objective of showing their abilities behind the wheel. This race has launched talents of Formula one such as David Coulthard, Rubens Barrichello, Ralf Schumacher, Nick Heidfeld, Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton, amongst others.
It is worth emphasizing that the team that Esteban races with, ART Grand Prix, won the pole and the race last year, which makes this even more interesting for the young Mexican talent.
Although this race is not part of the regular F3 Euroseries season, it will serve as preparation for Esteban, as this same track will host rounds 7 and 8 of the Formula 3 Euroseries in July.
On Saturday, Esteban and the rest of the drivers will have a practice session and qualifying, and on Sunday the actual race, consisting of 25 laps or 60 minutes, will take place.
The Masters celebrates two races per year. The first will be this one which takes place in Holland, and the next one will be in Macau, China, at the end of November.
“This weekend is going to be very interesting as around 43 drivers are registered and it will be a different event format, compared to the F3 Euroseries. I don’t know the track but I know that it’s very fast.”
“This is going to be good training as the more fast curves, the more "G" forces the car generates and this will help me to train my body in that aspect. Although the results have not been so great recently I’m going to keep giving my best with a lot of motivation and a positive mentality.”, assured Esteban Gutiérrez.
Gutierrez thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, & Bell for all their support given throughout this season.
The young driver also especially thanks Telmex for joining him in the goal to position Mexico at the Forefront of motor racing at a world level.
