Esteban Gutierrez

Nurburg, Germany – Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez is in eighth position on the grid for the Feature race of the GP2 Series –round 11th of the season-, which will take place this weekend at the Nurburgring circuit, in Germany.

Gutierrez posted a best lap time of 1m40.817s, good for fourth row on the grid, and was very happy about the job done by himself and team Lotus ART both in practice and qualifying.

“Being consistent was very difficult but we can see that our pace is good, in fact earlier today we were in the top spots, which actually means we are in a good position and motivates us to keep working hard.

“Now we have to get everything together because reaching the next level from here is very difficult, to cut off those last tenths to be able to fight for the first places and to be consistent at that level is a tough task, but that is what we are pursuing here”, said the driver.

With the qualifying result for this race, the Mexican expects to add some points to his tally, as the least they are targeting for, is to finish 8th.

“It is important to keep a realistic view of things, so our minimum goal is to finish eighth because we have to add points and from there we’ll see if we can gain a few more positions” he remarked.

On a different note, Esteban said he feels confident about the race, as he has adapted well to the car on a circuit he knows from racing there back in 2009, in the F3 EuroSeries.

“I am enjoying the circuit very much, it is very fast and you need a lot of confidence but I feel great in the car, very confident, and I think the race will have a positive result”, he concluded.
