Nurburg, Germany - Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez and team Lotus ART’s this weekend’s target is to finish in the points on races 11th and 12th of the GP2 Series in Nurburg, Germany.

It is important for Gutierrez to keep showing progress in the series and for that reason he will try and finish in the points paying zone this weekend.

“We have arrived and come well prepared for this weekend’s challenge. The results from recent events have proved that we can continue moving forward and we are going to try and finish consistently in the points.

“We are focused in finishing inside the points paying zone. We want to show our progress although a top ten result will be fine; we have demonstrated our pace”, said the driver.

Even though they are targeting a points result, Esteban acknowledges that his first season in the F1 feeder series has been complicated, as the other drivers are very good and have more experience at this level.

“It is indeed a little complicated because this series is very competitive and the drivers are very good. It is difficult to get in the points.

“That is why we prefer to be realistic about our chances but obviously we are going to do our best effort and we are working to be more consistent. We are aware that we have to do this in a sound and smart way”, he remarked.

In respect to the Nurburgring track, which is not new to the 19 year old driver who was here in 2009 with the F3 Series and finished 3rd and 6th, Gutierrez said he will be looking to get adapted to the car early, as he already knows the track layout.

“It is definitely an advantage (to know the circuit). Practice will be very important to get adapted to the car and to try to improve and reach the ideal performance on the track.

“This is a track where I have competed before, although on a different layout. It is a technical circuit that I like very much. With God’s help we will have a good weekend. We want to continue moving forward and to enjoy the entire event”, he concluded.
