Esteban is in Monaco for the First Time

Monte Carlo, Monaco - Prior to this weekend’s event where he will take part in races five and six of the GP2 Series, Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez walked around the track along with his team Lotus ART.

Because this is a street course, it is a little difficult to complete the entire work program; nevertheless Esteban says he got the most out of today´s activities.

“It was a little difficult because there is everyday traffic and it is not easy to do the track walk. Basically, we tried to focus on the main spots because local traffic made it difficult to see much of the circuit.

“It is very useful, mainly in terms of the things I always analyze with my engineer. We normally go through all the different gears, the corners, the many details of the track, which has a lot of variables. It is very interesting and we are getting ready in the same way we do on every other track”, he said.

Gutierrez is thrilled to race on the 3.340km circuit of Monaco, and has taken reference of some of the drivers, like his teammate Jules Bianchi.

“They have told me this is one of their favorite courses and to be honest this is one that I wanted to visit, I think I´m going to like it very much as it is a special place.

“We must be realistic. This is a track I do not know. During practice, I have to be conservative to get to know the layout little by little. That is what really matters, we are going to try and enjoy this weekend”, he added.

Mexican driver hopes this weekend to be different than the first two events of the GP2 Series this year and he is confident he can finish both of the races that will take place in Montecarlo.

“We are going to be patient and to work really focused at all times. The first two events have been very difficult for us but we have learned enormously. Again it’s going to be difficult here because we don’t know the circuit.

“We are not going to think that much in being competitive because the main objective is to get adapted and by doing that the results will come with the time", he remarked.
