Monterrey, Mexico – Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez has remained focused on doing a good job on his next appointment, which will take place this weekend: rounds 3 and 4 of the GP2 Series in Barcelona, Spain.
Despite a difficult start of Esteban in the F1 feeder series, what he has learned is very valuable for the driver and his team Lotus ART, who have turned over the Istambul page to focus on the next events.

“It really was a different experience, somewhat complicated and frustrating, but if you see the big picture, in the end it was positive too because we learned and gained even more experience.
“Not everything is going to be pretty and good all the time and these are the things that make you grow up and think; and now we are motivated and moving forward. It’s time to leave Istambul behind and continue working because we have the speed to keep going forward", he said.
19 year old driver knows that, over time, the good results will come for him in the GP2 Series, just as he has demonstrated in the different series in which he has been before.
“It’s a matter of time. I think we have to be realistic and keep focused on learning and gaining experience, which is the most important thing at this point. We are obviously looking to achieve good results and that´s what we´re here for, but we´re taking things easy and going one step at a time.
“We need some time and patience, the good results will come. We must keep our head cool and focused, and do what we´ve been doing because I believe we do have the ability to improve", he added.
The 4.655 km circuit of Catalunya, which hosts races 3 and 4 of the season, is already known by the Mexican, who has been here before with other formulas, and that gives him confidence to do a smart race.
“It’s a very technical track. On this circuit tires won’t last much and that will make an interesting weekend, complicated to certain point, but a good place to take advantage if we manage to adapt quickly to the situation.
“It’s a positive thing (that I know the track) because I don’t have to learn the layout which I know very well, but the fact of being on a GP2 makes it different at the same time. We are going to give our best to try and adapt as quickly as possible", he remarked.
