Istambul, Turkey – After an accident forced him to abandon the first race of the GP2 Series, Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez is ready for the second meeting with the European series.

It was at the first corner of the Istanbul track where Gutierrez’s Lotus ART car #6 was hit from behind and forced to abandon the race in his F1 feeder series debut.

“It was a little frustrating but such things happen from time to time. On the other hand it’s not a huge deal, we have to take the positive from the experience and continue working. We will stay focused and just take some time to analyze our race.

“We are going to learn from this experience. A big part of it comes from the accident I had in practice. A little mistake can affect your entire weekend. We did not have a chance for a good practice and started the race from behind; it is all chained together and it is important to take everything into consideration, correct the errors and keep the positive things”, Esteban said after the first race.

The main focus for 19-year-old driver in race two will be to finish the race, as that is the way he will acquire more experience while he gets used to the car.

“The most important thing tomorrow is to finish the race. That’s the main objective for us. We are not seeking to gain positions but to do the race and learn from the tires.

“That is what we have been talking internally and what we’ve agreed to; we want to do many laps because we lack the experience so we will be looking to have a quiet race and avoid contacts”, he added.

Race one was dominated by Frenchman Roman Grosjean, at DAMS, Sam Bird with iSport was second, while Esteban’s teammate, Jules Bianchi, finished third.
