Esteban Gutierrez

Northamptonshire, England – After acquiring more experience by participating in the GP2 Asia Series, Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez is ready to begin the GP2 Series Official Tests which will take place in England, on April 5th and 6th.

The Silverstone circuit will host the first two days of official training, where Gutierrez is seeking to improve after all the experiences he went through with his team Lotus ART during the first months of the year.

“This is going to be very interesting because with the knowledge gained from the GP2 Asia we are certainly going to have many new ideas throughout the season and we’ll be able to evolve and try to get better as now we have experience both in qualifying as well as racing.

“Actually, it was very useful because we were able to learn and observe those little details we are not used to, which I think is very positive because we got to have several different opportunities to understand certain things and to try and progress little by little", he said.

19 year old driver spoke about what is expected from these two days of training and what his team is going to focus on, seeking to improve.
 
“Mainly, we want to improve our qualifying potential because we know that once the race begins we have the speed, but we have to get better in qualifying. Also, we are going to run several technical tests to understand our tires better”.

“The integration process with the team has been very good; we enjoy the work together and have a good communication. After the Asia season we had a few days to sit down and think and look for the things that we can improve and we hope we can build on what we have learned to get better”, he remarked.
 
Esteban Gutierrez concluded that they are not in a new stage but instead they are seeing the new season as a continuation of the GP2 Asia experience, for which they should show some improvement in the next days.
