Hockenheim, Germany – On the first day of action at the Hockenheim track, Mexican driver Esteban Gutierrez and his team ART Grand Prix suffered from a couple of inconveniences with brake problems at the beginning of the session which prevented Gutierrez from taking the track on the first half of the session.

Despite being able to do only 16 laps, the young driver placed himself 4th with a lap time of 1:34.353. On the second session, Esteban did 22 laps, and his best lap time was 1:34.223, good for P7.

The 30 minute qualifying session took place in the afternoon, and Esteban qualified 11th for tomorrow’s race (Saturday). The race will last 30 minutes or 18 laps, whichever is first.

During qualifying, Esteban’s run was affected by another driver blocking inappropriately, forcing the Mexican to go off the track to avoid a contact with the other car, causing minor damage to his car and losing valuable qualifying time.

“We had a difficult day, starting with brake problems during practice that caused us to lose a lot of time. I must admit I’ve struggled adapting to the F3 car, which is very different to most of the other cars. We were aware of the situation, especially my own, but I keep a positive mind to adapt as much as I can to the differences in driving style and competitiveness”, said Esteban Gutierrez.

“I feel grateful with the team, because we have had difficult times in F3, but no one is giving up and we continue supporting each other”, he remarked.

“This isn’t over and I will continue fighting in the smartest way to try and improve my act. Adapting to the F3 car and being competitive here as well as in other series is a challenge that I live to take this great experience with me in the future.

Thank God I have the opportunity to live these moments that make me realize how much I can improve as a person as well as in my professional career”, he concluded.
