March 4, 2010

Le Castellet, France - On the first day of testing of the new GP3 Series, young Mexican driver, Esteban Gutierrez, driving for French team ART Grand Prix, placed himself P1 with a best lap time of 1 minute and 20.949 seconds on his 36th lap, reaching a top speed of 230.3 kmh.

Gutierrez was able to put to practice all that he has learned about the GP3 car´s technical and mechanical aspects. Also, the Mexican felt all the physical training was worth the effort, as he felt very good in every aspect.

The 3.843 km long track of the Circuit Paul Ricard witnessed the great driving skills of 30 drivers who gathered today to test the new car. Testing will continue tomorrow (today), Friday, March 5th, from 9:00 am (local time).

"It was a very long day and I really want to thank my team for all the effort they have put to make this training possible. The team worked all night and arrived at the track at 7 am”, Esteban said.

"There are always some problems with new cars, that is something that we expected, but thank God we managed to solve most of them. Basically today’s goal was to get to know the car, analyze the data and see where the technical limits are”, explained the driver.

"We are very pleased with today’s results in every aspect, and we hope we’ll be able to get the most out of the day tomorrow to set up the car and be faster every time. Now that I finally drove the car I can say it was very satisfying and I am impressed by its potential. I enjoyed very much driving it and that is the best of this opportunity", he remarked.
