Esteban has a Successful event at Dijon, adding some Points

October 11, 2009

Dijon, France – An outstanding job from Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez this Sunday saw him finish 4th in round 18 of the Formula 3 Euroseries 2009.

Driving for ART Grand Prix, he earned three points and remains ninth in the drivers’ championship, now with 23 points.
From lap one, Esteban showed his remarkable progress, after starting the race in 12th, he gained five positions and placed himself seventh.

The race had to be stopped when a big incident involving six cars – with all six drivers coming out unharmed - brought out a red flag. On restart, the Mexican driver remained focused in climbing up as many positions as he could, and did it by reaching fourth place.

All the experience the young driver has gained this season was evident this weekend, when he recovered from a difficult qualifying session that put him 21st on the grid for the first race, which he finished in 12th place.

Today, he kept the good pace and reached the points, sticking to his wish of successfully representing Mexico and Latin America.

Now, Esteban will take a two week break with several members of his family, and will be back on October 23-25 for the last event of the season in the circuit of Hockenheim, Germany.

It is important to point out that today, ART Grand Prix won the F3 Euroseries  Championship for the sixth consecutive year, this time by the hand of their driver Jules Bianchi.

“Thank God we were able to gain positions and reach the points, as they were necessary to keep leading the teams’ championship. The race was very interesting as there were good fights for position trying to move up the field”, Esteban said.

“At the start, I gained one position and then after turn one I reached seventh place, escaping an incident in which nobody was injured thank to God. At the restart I took sixth place and from then on I continued fighting to gain more positions. At the end, I was able to regain most of what was lost in qualifying and thanks to that we remain as leaders in the teams´ championship.

“There is one more event left in the season and we expect to have a good result as our speed has been very good in the last races. We will continue working hard to take the name of Mexico as high as we can. Greetings to all the fans, I hope they will enjoy watching the races if they have the opportunity", he concluded.

Esteban thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, and Bell for supporting him on this stage of his career.
