Esteban Climbs up positions in Dijon

October 10, 2009

Dijon, France – Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez has acquired a great amount of overtaking experience over the season, and that was demonstrated today during round 17 of the Formula 3 Euroseries 2009.

After a difficult qualifying session on Friday, in which he hit a tire wall head first, today Esteban gave it all and managed to climb up from 21st to eventually finish 12th.

Even when this is a very narrow track that makes overtaking very difficult, Esteban was very focused during the race and gained two places in the first lap and seven more throughout the race that saw a few caution flags and the safety car in one occasion, and in which three drivers abandoned from different reasons.

It was a 21 laps or 30 minutes race and the weather temperature was 18° C, with 16°C on the track.

“For today’s race one had to be very patient. At the start we were able to gain a few positions and from then on we overtook enough cars to reach twelfth place, a position that was fought in a very interesting fight,” said Esteban.

“We are happy because again we had to start from the back of the field on a track where overtaking is very difficult. This is obviously not what we were looking for but the positive outcome is having lived a great racing experience and that we finished the race.

“There is one more race tomorrow, another chance to gain as many positions as possible, it is going to be hard, but we will do our best effort to reach the points paying positions. Thank to God it was a fun race and I hope tomorrow’s race will be the same”, concluded the young Mexican driver.

Tomorrow, the driver from ART Grand Prix will start round 18 of the season from P12, and will seek to place himself in the top 6 looking to add up more points to improve his position in the drivers’ championship, where he stands ninth with 20 points.

Esteban thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, and Bell for supporting him on this stage of his career.
