Monterrey, Mexico - With the objective of getting in the best possible conditions to his F1 test in December, Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez will be driving a GP2 car in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, on October 6th.
This is part of an intensive technical and physical preparation program, as the experience will be the most similar possible to a Formula One car.
Esteban will take this test with French team ART Grand Prix, 2009 champion of the GP2 Series, together with Nico Hulkenberg, who will race for Williams Formula One next year.
In this historical circuit - built in 1986 and host of many F1 Grands Prix – lived great moments drivers like Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, Nigel Mansell, and Mika Hakkinen, among others.
“The purpose of the GP2 test is to get some preparation for the F1 test that we will have in December. It will help us get a better perspective of what to expect and to be as well prepared as possible”, said Esteban.
“The GP2 car is the most similar to an F1 car, and for that reason we are taking as many opportunities as we can, as my performance during the F1 test will be crucial. I thank God for the opportunities that we are getting, I know they are not easy to achieve and for that reason you have to get the most out of them. It is going to be an unforgettable experience since this team is this year’s champion of the GP2 series”, remarked the driver.
Esteban is in Monterrey, Mexico, visiting family and friends, and tomorrow, October 1st, he will fly back to Europe with his mother, who will be with him during this very important stage of his professional career.
Rounds 17 and 18 of the Formula 3 Euroseries will take place at Dijon, France, where the Mexican driver will seek to improve from the position he holds now in the drivers’ championship, where he currently is ninth with 20 points.
