Barcelona, Spain - Despite the difficult circumstances of the practice sessions, Mexican driver Esteban Manuel Gutierrez Gutierrez qualified in sixth place for tomorrow’s race of the Formula 3 Euroseries 2009.
This top ten position was not easy task for the young driver as the weather conditions and a mechanical problem affected his performance during the morning session.
In the afternoon, the ART Grand Prix driver suffered from a flat tire and a stone that hit the upper side of his visor.
Despite all that, Esteban remained focused and kept on with the target of gaining as many points as he can for the drivers’ championship, in which he is ninth, with 20 points.
“This has been a very interesting day. We had some problems during practice that caused us to miss most of the first practice session. I thank the team because they fixed the problems very quickly”, said the driver.
“We are very happy to be among the top ten but not a hundred percent satisfied because we have to keep working hard to find out where we can improve. The weekend is far from over and there is room for improvement”.
“We have been very consistent and this is important for the race. It is a long race and many things can happen. We have to be patient, aggressive but measured, and do smart races. With God’s help things will turn out in our favor”.
“I hope I can have a good race, I will give my best representing Mexico in the best possible way”, said Esteban.
Tomorrow’s race, 15th in the calendar, will last 27 laps or 30 minutes, while round 16 will be held on Sunday and will last for 36 laps or 40 minutes.
“Greetings to all the race fans. I wish they will continue to be passionate about the sport and to support Mexican and Latin American sportsmen”, remarked Esteban.
Esteban thanks his sponsors Multigama, DeAcero, Telmex, Alpinestars, and Bell for supporting him on this stage of his career.
