02-11-2013.- After a difficult qualifying session where the expected results didn't come, Esteban Gutiérrez will have to come from the back of the grid trying to reach the points in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

In Q1, team Sauber and their driver decided to wait until the final minutes of the session to do the timed lap that would put them in the second round.
However, the strategy backfired and Esteban didn't make the time they needed to pursue a better place on the starting grid.
“The problem is that the strategy simply did not work because we took the track at the end, planning to do an installation lap and then another one but I found a lot of cars exiting the pits at the same time.
“For the second lap I got a late call saying there wasn't enough time and I crossed the line after the checkered flag, I didn't have another lap”, said Gutiérrez.
Esteban finished P17 with a lap time of 1:41.999, but will start from 16th after Kimi Raikkonen was handed a penalty when his car was found to be out of the regulations and will start the race from the back of the grid.
“It is something that we did not took advantage of and we have to make the best out of this. Today wasn't optimal, a little mistake like the one today and you're out”, he remarked.
Pole position was for Red Bull's Mark Webber, who set a best lap time of 1:39.957, followed by his team mate and this year's champion Sebastian Vettel with 1:40.075, while Nico Rosberg qualified third (1:40.419).
