09.10.2014.- After Jules Bianchi’s accident last week, season 2014 activities resume this weekend with the Russian Grand Prix, and Mexican driver Esteban Gutiérrez has expressedhis feelings about what happened.
Gutiérrez and Bianchi were team mates in other categories, and there is a friendship between them.
“In general terms our thoughts are with Jules, it is difficult to move on after this tragedy, something unexpected, me and my family have been praying for him, I was very close to Jules when we were teammates and have had a good relation ever since we came to Formula One.
“We have been in touch, I watched the video from a distance and didn’t want to see it again because it is very painful; I think we have to deeply analyze what happened and we have faith that FIA will improve our safety”, said Esteban.
About the first ever Russian Grand Prix, the Sauber driver explained the track conditions and what the team must do to have a good performance.
“We compare it to Valencia, there are several things that will pose a challenge on the circuit; one is that the tarmac is new and at first the tires react different to normal, and the other thing is that this is a very technical track”, he said.
Activities will start this Friday from 10:00 (01:00 Mexico Central Time) at the Sochi Racetrack, with FP1 and FP2.
