10.10.2014.- After the first track day of the Russian Grand Prix, Mexican driver Esteban Gutiérrez had a productive day and the car behaved well on the Sochi circuit.

The Sauber driver only took part in the afternoon practice where he did 33 laps and his best time was 1:43.055.

“After not having taken part in the first training session, we had a very productive afternoon. It was very important to catch up with the program and we are really surprised with our performance on track.

“The tires are working well while the grip level is very high, that is a lot more than we expected for today”, said the driver.

Esteban, who was 18th at the end of Practice 2 for the Russian Grand Prix, talked about his impressions of the new circuit.

“I like this track very much, I am really enjoying driving here and we expect to have another productive day tomorrow, as it was today”, he said.

Gutiérrez also talked about French driver Jules Bianchi, who crashed last weekend during the Japan Grand Prix.

“I want to say that our thoughts and prayers are for Jules and his family at this difficult time, the most important thing is to make him feel our strength and we are sending him our positive energy.

“I am going to help as much as I can, I want to show Jules and his family my support, and that is why I am asking that we all continue praying for him”, he remarked.
