27-11-2013.- After his debut season in the top series of motorsports, Mexican driver Esteban Gutiérrez finished as the best rookie of the pack.

Even though Formula One does not have a specific award for this, Guitiérrez was the newcomer with the highest total points with seven, followed by Valtteri Bottas with four, while Jules Bianchi, Max Chilton and Giedo van der Garde closed the season with no points.

“It is somehow meaningful, even when it is not an official thing, sometimes as a person you have to see what is positive and what things are being fulfilled, recognize them and put them in your mind to motivate yourself to achieve more goals in the future.

“Even when this was a very challenging season and obviously I would have liked to achieve more than I did, there are many positive things and one of them is to be the best rookie of the year, as this will be a motivation for the future”, said the Mexican.

Esteban did a balance of his first season and remarked the positive things that made him grow not only as a driver but also as a person.

“I really was a season full of great experience and learnings that I appreciate very much. They have helped me through my development as a driver and as a person by taking me to a different professional level, which is very valuable for the future.

“I am young and have a lot to learn and to live. Of all the things I lived through this year, I get the positive things that I can take with me everywhere and through everything I get to live”, he said.

The 22 year all driver talked about the positive and the challenges he faced through his first season in Formula One.

“The best thing of the year is having my team mate (Nico Hulkenberg) as a reference, he is a very complete driver; we were very competitive and being able to work on my skills and develop the technical aspect of my driving, while increasing my knowledge and use all that to give a competitive twist to my season in the second half of the year is something for which I feel satisfied.

“Qualifying has been the biggest challenge, because I was competitive in the races, at least in many of them, I had good races, with good overtakes and all, but the big challenge was to find the right balance to put a good and clean lap while not making any mistakes and going at the limit”, he remarked.

Esteban Gutiérrez explained that he is working to define what his future will be in F1.
