Before round 13th of the Formula One season kicks off with the Grand Prix of Singapore, our driver, Esteban Gutiérrez, took part in an event organized by the Chelsea Football Club.
Esteban talked about how he interacted with more than 40 boys between 11 and 13, who had a race with cars made from wood. The winners will be invited to visit Team Sauber F1′s garage on Saturday before the Grand Prix of Singapore.
“It was a whole new experience for me. Children from a variety of schools had to build a wooden car and race it on a straight line using gas propulsion. They even had to consider the aerodynamics aspect to make the car go as fast as possible”.
“Chelsea Football Club was also involved, football and auto racing came together to make a very interesting event. We spent two hours interacting with the kids and helping them with their project”, said Esteban after the event.
Regarding the Grand Prix of Singapore, Guti explained how they are focused on qualifying to pursue a good result this weekend.
“The Singapore event is one of my favorites, it is very different to all the other races. One of it’s distinctive characteristics is that it is held at night. It is a street course and is the track with the most corners of the season”.
“I liked this track since the first time I saw it last year. I enjoyed the entire event and now as a Formula One driver I am here to continue improving my driving. Our focus is totally on qualifying, I think if we do well there we will have a good result in the race”, he remarked.
