Esteban Gutiérrez

Esteban Manuel Gutiérrez was born on August 5th, 1991, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México.

His passion for motorsports started when he was very young and by the influence of his brother Andrés and with support from his parents Roberto and Clara Gutiérrez, who, in 2004, induced him into karting in México.

In 2007 he participated in his first season on a single seater in the Formula BMW United States Series where he finished runner-up.

A year later, his talent took him to the Formula BMW Europe Series where he reached the title with 12 podium finishes, including seven wins.

In 2009 Esteban went to race in the Formula 3 Euroseries and in 2010 he took part of the GP3 series, where he achieved a couple of podium finishes and the season championship.

Esteban arrived at the GP2 Series in 2011 and stayed there for two seasons. In his first season he finished 13th in the standings, but the following year he won three times and finished runner-up in the season.

In 2011 Sauber F1 Team named him their reserve driver but he has actually being doing testing for the team since 2009 by participating in testing sessions for rookies.

At the end of 2012 Sauber confirmed Esteban as a race driver to team with German driver Nico Hülkenberg.

While in 2013 and 2014, he raced for the Sauber F1 Team. As from 2015, he fulfills the function of third driver for Scuderia Ferrari.
